What Does the Green Instagram Following Button Mean?
Instagram’s “Close Friends” list is a relatively new feature. It enables you to share your stories privately with selected individuals rather than publicly with everyone.
At times, you may like to share a story with someone, but not everyone. The “Close Friends” list is custom-built for this reason.
This new feature enables you to control who has access to your stories and who does not.
On the right side of the “Close Friend” area, if you press the following button, you’ll notice a star with a green background.

This indicates that the individual is on your list of Close Friends.
However, if you have not added the individual to your Close Friends list, the following button will not be green.
They will be removed from your Close Friends list if you tap on the “Close Friend” section.
How To Get The Green Following Button On Instagram
Simply add the person to your “Close Friends” list to obtain the “Green Following” button on their Instagram profile.
Note: To add someone to your Close Friends list, you must first follow them.

Step #1: Open the profile of the person you’d like to add to your list of Close Friends
Step #2: Tap on the following button to open the menu
Step #3: Tap on “Add to Close Friends List”
