Instagram’s “Couldn’t refresh feed” problem message is most commonly observed when you are using a third-party tool to automate or schedule posts on the social media platform. It can also happen if your phone’s date and time settings are incorrect, or if Instagram is just down at the time.

I’ve explained all the three reasons in detail below:

  1. Stop using third-party apps
  2. Correct your date and time
  3. Instagram may be down

1. Stop using third-party apps

Are you using any third-party apps to automate your Instagram activities? If the answer is yes, then this could be a reason for this error message.

Instagram does not typically allow automation, such as the use of an auto-liker or an auto-scheduler.

Only those third-party tools or apps that have been approved by Instagram should be used.

If you’re using one of those unapproved tools, Instagram may prevent you from accessing your feed entirely.

If you’re using many third-party apps at the same time, try disconnecting each one by one to determine which third-party app is causing the problem.

2. Correct your date and time

Check the date and time on your phone to be sure they are correct.

Instagram automatically synchronizes the time and date with the settings on your device.

If the data and time on your device do not match the date and time on Instagram, you may see the “Couldn’t refresh feed” problem.

If you are unsure of the current time, simply Google “what is the time now?” and Google will provide the current date and time in your location.

After you’ve set the correct date and time on your phone, restarted it, and opened Instagram, you should be able to see your Instagram feed.

You may also try using Instagram on your computer to see if the error continues to occur there.

3. Instagram may be down

If you are certain that you are not using any third-party tools to automate your Instagram activities and that your time and date settings are right, there is a significant chance that Instagram is down.

Inquire with your friends about whether their Instagram account is working or not.

You can check Instagram’s official Twitter feed to see if any announcements have been made on the situation.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do in this situation. All you can do is wait.

Wait until Instagram can resolve this issue.
