How to Recover Your Google Authenticator Account
You can recover your Google Authenticator account by accessing the “2-Step Verification” page. To do this, log in to your Google account and go to security settings. Now select 2-Step Verification and then the type of phone you have. Next, install the app on your new phone, scan the QR code, and enter the 6-digit code. After you’ve entered the code, all your previous accounts will be recovered.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to Recover Your Google Authenticator Account:
- Open your Google Account settings
- Select “Security” settings
- Under the “Signing in to Google” section, select “2-Step Verification”
- In the “Authenticator app” settings, click the “Change phone” button
- Select phone type and click on “Next”
- Scan the QR Code and click on “Next”
- Enter the code from the Authenticator app and click on “Verify”
1. Open your Google Account settings
The first step is to go to your “Google Account” settings.
Access your “Google Account” settings from here: https://myaccount.google.com/
You can manage your information, your security, and your privacy settings in the “Google Account” settings.
2. Select “Security” settings
Now, on the left-hand side of the page, you’ll see various settings.
You’ll see your Personal info, Data and privacy, Security, People and sharing, and your Payments and subscriptions settings here.
Click on “Security” to open your “Security” settings.
3. Under the “Signing in to Google” section, select “2-Step Verification”
Now, in “Security” settings, you’ll see all your information related to security, such as when you last logged in, your recovery phone/email, your devices, your saved passwords, etc.
Now scroll down to the “Signing in to Google” section.
You’ll find two options here; 2-Step verification and App passwords.
Click on “2-Step Verification” and enter your Google password to proceed.
Not to worry, you have not been logged out. Google is only attempting to provide an additional layer of security to the “2-Step Verification” settings, and thus will prompt you to re-enter your Google password.
4. In the “Authenticator app” settings, click the “Change phone” button
In the “2-Step Verification” settings, you’ll see all the verification methods to secure your Google account.
Make sure you copy and save the backup codes as well.
Now, under the “Authenticator app” settings, click on the “Change Phone” button.
5. Select phone type and click on “Next”
In this step, you have to select your phone type.
You have two options to choose from: Android and iPhone.
Android is selected by default, but if you have an iPhone, make sure you select the “iPhone” option.
Click on the “Next” button to proceed to the next step.
6. Scan the QR Code and click on “Next”
Install the “Google Authenticator” app if you haven’t already done so.
After installing, scan the QR code with the “Google Authenticator” app and click on the “Next” button.
7. Enter the code from the Authenticator app and click on “Verify”
Now, you’ll see a 6-digit code in the “Google Authenticator” app. You need to enter this code to verify your device.
Google Authenticator codes expire after 30 seconds. The codes expire after 30 seconds and are refreshed with new codes.
After you enter the code, click on the “Verify” button to verify your new device.
After verifying the device, you’ll get a list of all your accounts that require “Google Authenticator” codes.
You’ve now successfully recovered your Google Authenticator Account.
How do I restore my Google Authenticator to a new phone?
To restore your Google Authenticator to a new phone, log in to your Google account and go to security settings. Select 2-Step Verification, followed by the type of phone you have. Then, on your new phone, install the app, scan the QR code, and input the 6-digit code. All of your prior accounts will be restored once you enter the code.
How long are Google Authenticator codes valid for?
